What’s pretty, pink and printed…and “green” all over?

Lilly Pulitzer’s New Electric Low Speed Vehicle!

Yes, we know many many of you are out there zipping around in your traffic-stopping Lilly Jeep Wranglers, but we couldn’t very well spend a year loving green and all these great causes that support our environment, without offering a new form of transportation that fit the bill. It’s affectionately referred to as an E-LILLY.

This baby is roadworthy!

Okay here’s what you need to know:

Available in pink (duh) or white.
Can be customized with just about anything you want…2-seat, 4-seat, golf bag, trunk (This is standard, lets remove) and more.
Headlights, wipers, it’s got it all (okay a vanity mirror might cost extra)
Charges with any standard 110v household outlet! And travels for over 30 miles on a single charge.
Takes about 6 weeks to deliver…so start sweet talking a loved one now. (A limited number available for Christmas!)
Like all LSVs, it’s legal on all roads with posted speed of 35mph and less. PLUS it works on a golf course too!

Phillies Fever!

Posted on November 4, 2009 in More Fun by | 2 comments

Sports. Hmmmm. I have to admit not my forte. Tennis is more my game that counts as a sport right? I just love a tennis skirt!). THAT SAID there is a buzz around our office…and you know I love a buzz. Some fun things to share…

The Pink Palace is located outside Philadelphia. As in PHILLIES…as in World Series. We have the entire Pink Palace brimming with Phillies fans so I have to say…

We have a new (and it seems very handsome) Lilly fan in MIAMI who we have been emailing with. Please check out this pic! Fritz (looove the name) is the Director of Communications for the Miami Dolphins and he wears Lilly Pulitzer ties as a SIGNATURE to every game. The Dolphins won last week and we are taking FULL CREDIT that it was the good luck tie.

Please note, the Dolphins have a tres cute logo and we loooove the combo of turquoise and ginger (some may say orange but we are going with ginger ).

On that note, it is hard for me to hide the fact that my family is a HUGE football household. My husband convinced me to name our daughter after TIKI BARBER of the NY GIANTS. It’s true. And the name fits her perfectly.

Tiki Barber…

My Tiki in her resort 2010 hoodie!

As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Tiki…if you read this please start wearing Lilly ties J They will look fabulous on-air for your broadcasts.

A Crazed Week!

Posted on November 2, 2009 in More Fun by | 1 comment

Hi there. I have had the most insane two days last week that I just had to share. Stay with me…..I can barely keep up with myself!

Step one: Pack. Going to multiple parties. Needed all my printed Elsa’s, scarves, black and winter white cigarette pants, gold heels and array of “I-can’t-believe-she-is-wearing-those-they-are-so-big” earrings.

Step two: Manicure. I am going through a nailpolish fetish moment. Changing polish every 2 days. This week has been black glitter (very hard to get off), deep cherry red and now…coral! For…

Step three: Party! We kicked off our partnership with Seaweb’s Too Precious Too Wear by having a little soiree in our Mad Ave store. I presented Dawn Martin the President of Seaweb. She is the ultimate combo of smart, kind, funny and stylish. Loved her and her entire team. It seems everyone at the party bought one of these (as they should) and a percentage of the proceeds go to the TPTW campaign. Check it out immediately!!!!

Step three: another party! The Seaweb event ended at 8pm. I dashed to my dear friend Sarah’s (she is the witty beauty director at Vogue who you have heard me mention). Changed for the YSL (yves saint laurent) masquerade ball. Ahhhhh, so chic I could die. Wore the Fall peacock dress with a peacock feather mask. They are launching their new fragrance Parisienne (which smells so yummy! Love the hint of rose. J’adore completment) Ooodles of champagne (french- the only kind). DJ was bananas. Danced and laughed the night away.

Step four – what step am I on again?: sleep. If only for a moment…

Step five: wake up. Threw on my Elsa top with black pants, scarf, too much jewelry and shoes that are so high and ridiculous I see a podatrist in my future. Speak in front of hundreds of people (many of whom are scientists and think I am from another planet!) I have arrived at the Coral Convention. These people are smart and making a difference – I am honored to be included.

Step five: hop a cap to the train. Daaaaaaaashing and winded (seriously regretting shoes now but adore this top and scarf combo!!!).

Step six: Another party! Arrive at the Ardmore store to find Minnie’s running around – general craziness! Love it. The print team painting faces. Color-your-own tattoos. Cupcakes. Apple cider. Candy, candy, candy and more candy. Took loads of snaps…

It is not fair that I get to have so much fun!! Love every second. Hope everyone had a happy trick or treating! And above all I hope you all causeda little mischief for me.

LYTM, janie

Janie At The Conference On Coral

Posted on October 28, 2009 in More Fun by | Comment

Janie talks on a panel at a conference on coral this week in NYC! Read on for more info and find out how to be there!

AS YOU KNOW, I am a jewelry collector, worshiper, knock down your grandmother for vintage hunter…I love jewelry. SO, like I said it is one of my favorite things.

You may also know by now that we have planned to have our Resort 09 collection (eeeeeeee, shipping to stores near you now!!!! It is in the warehouse and it is tdf) inspired by the OCEAN and all things water. ONE thing we are doing in celebrating our Lilly Loves Green year is raising awareness for The Ocean Conservancy. The OTHER cool thing we are doing is raising MONEY for Seaweb and their Too precious Too Wear Campaign…a charity that protects the oceans coral reefs.

I CANNOT tell you how much inspiration my team and I get form the Ocean. It is so vital. We have books and books of pictures WE have taken, and on cold winter days when we are working on summer, we look through our snaps of the beach, the shells we have collected, the trips we have taken to visit different bodies of water. Fish. Whales. Octopus. It goes on and on. It makes me SO SAD to think that we are polluting our oceans. So, we are working to raise YOUR awareness so that we are stronger TOGETHER.

SO. Back to jewelry. Ahhhh, it all comes back to that doesn’t it.
YESTERDAY I had the most delightful conversation with…drumroll please…STEPHEN DWEK. If you don’t know about Stephen’s jewelry line, please rush to Bergdorf Goodman or Neiman Marcus and ogle it IMMEDIATELY. I have been collecting his pieces since…hmmm, birth? Not really. But Stephen takes beautiful stones – BIG ONES, and uses them to create his organic, humongo gorg line.

Why were we chatting on the phone? WELL, Stephen and I, along with an extremely talented fellow named David Wolfe (he is the creative director at Donegar Group which EVERYONE looks to in the “insider fashion world” for trend forecasting). Well, the three of us will be on a panel. On a STAGE (I love a stage and mic, you know this!) discussing…and this is the official working here:

Coral as Motif and Material in Fashion

We were having a pre-chat on the phone so…(well probably so I know what the heck was going down.) This is what I do know. As a designer and creative force in fashion Lilly Pulitzer is unquestionably KNOWN for being beach and ocean-centric. Without it…a big chunk of our inspiration would be missing. We love coral and use it in our print design, our jewelry design…our interior store design. Using the REAL THING may not be the best as if not harvested correctly we can seriously damage this precious natural resource. So we are using it as inspiration…like in the above print for instance.

So Stephn, David and I are working to get the word out from a fashion point of view. Are you in NYC the end of this week?

Please register for CORAL: SYMBOL, SUBSTANCE, and SIGNIFICANCE, taking place Friday, October 30!

WAIT, oh and of course there’s a p-a-r-t-y to kick it all off. At our Mad Ave store Thursday, October 29th from 6-8. That evening we will unveil a very special necklace that we have designed to raise money for Seaweb and the Too Precious Too Wear campaign:

So please, come have some hors d’oeuvres with me, shop the coral collection and HELP US raise awareness and funds to protect our coral reefs. Xx

Some Sassy Sayings

Posted on October 27, 2009 in More Fun by | Comment

Hi there. EVER since I started blogging I have been DYING to share my love of silly sayings. We have our fair share at Lilly…like OH SHIFT, or TOO MUCH IS NEVER ENOUGH…but there are some sayings there now that LITERALLY make me giggle out loud and almost wet my pants. Depends on the time of day (and if it’s after cocktails).

Last week when I was in Charleston I visited a darling store called…you won’t believe it…LILY. Not Lilly, but Lily. I spoke with the owner Kevin for QUITE some time as I loaded-up on his delightfully funny and pant-wetting gift cards and cocktail napkins. He and his wife CLEARLY have a sense of humor because they have the most well edited selection of goodies. I love them so much that I can’t decide if I can give any away. :) It will ONLY be good, good, good friends who get these as hostess gifts…

These are all from ‘Shannon Martin’ and I got them at Lily on King St. in Charleston…

This one reminded me of a BASH to end all BASHES that our freinds the McGinn’s threw last holiday. We almost allllll ended up behind bars. WOOHOO!

I also got a b-day card from Shannon Martin that read…
“As a graduate of the Zsa Zsa Gabor School of Creative mathematics, I honestly do not know how old I am”
-Emily Bombeck

HA! Too funny. Reminds me of the magnet I have on my computer:

And since I am off on a tangent…these are the other priceless morsels I have at home…

I have this pillow in my living room!

I have this plate in my kitchen!

I mean, am I going overboard? MAYBE but I don’t care.

I have this tray for my keys…

SO, as you can see…too much is never enough. DO YOU have a signature saying? I am dying – send your BEST!. Xx

PS: Of course Charleston was fabulous in case you were wondering. :)

Oh Savannah!!

Posted on October 22, 2009 in More Fun by | 2 comments

Janie is back from her trip and has to share…read on!

Hi there. So I mentioned in my last post that I was in Savannah and Charleston…or at least the packing part. I have to recap the trip becasue I had the best time ever!
First, did you know I grew-up in Augusta, GA? So Savannah is very close to home and to say I love it…is the biggest understatement…well, it’s like saying I like Lilly or I have a few cocktail rings. In reality I ADORE Savannah. I obviously love Lilly and…the cocktail ring collection is taking on a life of it’s own…we may have to build an addition onto the house for a vault.
I love to exaggerate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can see you laughing to yourselves…YES, I exaggerate. Or is that just enthusiasm…whatev. LOVE SAVANNAH.
I went with my B-O-S-S who just happens to be one of the most lovely people ON THE PLANET. Her name is Linda Bradbury and she is the VP of Product…meaning she has to TRY desperately to control and guide my creative-ness. It is a full time job for her…bless you Linda.
We stayed at The Mansion on Forsyth Park. WOWEE. It is very chic, the staff is lovely and it is within walking distance to all of historic Savannah. Perfect. Take a peek.

We were there for two reasons…
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Savannah College of Art and Design. IF I do not show-up to work one day you will find me in Savannah as a “fibers” student at SCAD. They have the most amazing programs for all things art and fashion. Every time I visit I am completely blown away by the facilities, the staff and the students. And it is in the heart of Savannah. SCAD has played a MAJ part in bringing Savannah back to life…in such an authentic and historic way…while revitalizing and invigorating. It is an amazing school and I really wish I could be a student there. One day…
On a side note, the last 2 print designers we have hired have come from SCAD. Our very talented Paige and Torie. They were taught such FREEDOM along with the phenominal skills…I really could go on forever. IF your kids want to go to art school PLEASE go visit.
2. To visit our Savannah Store PALM AVE.

SUUUUCH a cute store. They have redecorated with chic seagrass wallpaper and zebra rugs. J’Adore the D’core. We chatted about the Fall line, what everyone loved and styles they wished they had more of. It was a treat to see them and learn more about SOUTHERN FALL.
While we were there we also took a walking tour around historic Savannah which was absolute heaven for me. It is just so close to my heart, the trees, the architectire…and this will sound silly – the dirt. It reminds me so much of growing up and my happy childhood. The Magnolia’s!
My favorite part about Savannah is it’s DARK SIDE. There are rumors of ghosts everywhere…and pirates. It is gorgeous…and spooky…and old-school chic. Mix that with the NEW-ART-COOLNESS of the SCAD influence and you have, in my opinion, the perfect city.
Oh wait…and dinner! Linda and I went to The Pink House. SOOOOO YUMMY. I love grits. Who cares if they make your butt bigger, they are delicious and so worth it. I had a very decadent cocktail and Linda had a ‘pink lady’. Made dinner full of giggles and pink cheeks. No wonder we have so much fun at ‘work’!

OK, I want to tell you more…get onto the Charleston part, but I am going to take a bubble bath and hop into my Lilly pj’s. WHY haven’t we made Lilly bubble bath yet?!??!?!?! I want the Beachy scent for the tubby. I will work on that…tomorrow. Yawn. xx

Jet-Setter Janie

Last week was a BUSY week for Janie, we filmed her and followed her every move one day and the next she was jetting off down south to one of her favorite schools! We’ve all had a packing dilemma at some point but maybe Janie can help with some pointers to prevent another… Read More
