We are SO SO SO excited (almost as excited as you!) to be opening our Lilly Pulitzer store at the SouthPark Mall in Charlotte this FRIDAY! We wanted to introduce our amazing team, led by Store Manager, Kristen Assell, so you could feel right at home when you come for a visit! Meet Kristen and her team and say hello next time you’re in Charlotte!
1. Tell us a little about yourself: I am a native Charlottean, and have lived here most of my life- I love this city! I went to Appalachian State and graduated with a Management and Marketing degree, and after a short stint in a “serious” job at a bank, I decided I just had to go back to retail- (my first love) I couldn’t sit behind a desk another minute! I have been married 6 years to my wonderful husband Billy, and we live in Weddington with our 2 doggies Roscoe and Ginger. I am just tickled PINK that Lilly is opening in Charlotte!!
2. What’s your Lilly story? I have always known about Lilly and their fun and colorful prints, but I didn’t really understand how amazing and talented they were until I saw the HUGE graphics go up on the wall when they began building the store in Charlotte. After that, I was obsessed! The gorgeous walls of color and prints captivated me and I sought out this opportunity- best decision ever!
3. Introduce us to your team: I am so lucky to have a wonderful and talented management team. My Assistant Manager, Debbie Meyers, who recently moved back to Charlotte from NYC, is a retail pro and an energetic and fun addition to our team! We are also thrilled to have Katie Driscoll as our Associate Manager. She has a long history with Lilly having worked at the Lilly signature store, Miss Priss when they were in Charlotte, and her talented mother Kristin, owns a monogramming company that will be doing our monogram work at Lilly SouthPark. Victoria Cable, also joining us as an Associate Manager, has worked for Lilly for 3 years. She started with Lilly in our Sarasota, FL store part-time while in college, and now that she has graduated, she’s been promoted and moved to Charlotte to join our team here and open this new store! How lucky are we?!? We have 6 part-timers who LOVE Lilly and can’t wait to meet all our Lilly fans in Charlotte!

Brief Store History: Palm Garden opened in 2002 and we just love being a part of the Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach area. We have so many Lilly Lovers in the area plus many, many more that come visit us while they’re vacationing here. In fact, we love being able to serve all of Southeastern North Carolina. Two years ago, we moved to a new shopping center and it has been the best decision we’ve ever made!
Our Lilly Story: The first time I wore Lilly was on my honeymoon. After that, I was hooked. I thought Southeastern North Carolina was the perfect place for a Lilly store, so I took the plunge! I just love wearing bright colors and no matter what, wearing Lilly and being around the clothes brightens my day!

Brief Store History: Leapin’ Lizards opened in Ridgewood, NJ in 2004. In June of 2009, store owners Gary and Jackie Nellis bought Leapin’ Lizards from the previous owners. “Gary and I figured it was the perfect opportunity for us for many reasons – I did not want to see my favorite local Lilly store leave the area (can you imagine?!) and it allowed me to work 1 mile from my home. I’m also excited about the fact that I can do more for my local community through Shop and Shares and contribute ideas for local fashion shows in a different forum.”
Their Lilly Story: My Lilly story started 15 years ago when my mother bought a home in Naples, Florida. I had always loved getting dressed nicely everyday but at this point I had 3 small children so fashion also needed to be functional for me. Walking down 5th aveneue in Naples, we went into the local Lilly store and I walked out with 3 new shifts and 2 pairs of printed pants. That was the start of my addiction!! Dresses that made me feel good about myself that I could wash and wear with no problem!! My friends got to the point where they understood how my dressing reflected my mood. If I was wearing black on any given day, they knew I did not feel well. To this day, if I am wearing black, I am asked if I feel okay!

We have a lot to be thankful for here at the Pink Tangerine in Kennebunkport. The Holidays are a very special time because it means that “Christmas Prelude” is upon us. This is also a special time for Pink Tangerine as we are about to complete our third year and many changes are in the works for the year to come!
Christmas Prelude is a week-long celebration of the Holidays that begins the first Friday in December. This celebration kicks off Friday evening with the lighting of the Christmas tree in dock square and includes Santa, arriving from the North Pole by lobster boat, (of course!) to orchestrate the proceedings. So, if you’re out at your local mall the first weekend in December and Santa is conspicuously absent, well, you’ll know where he is!

Tomorrow is a big, big day here at Lilly. A day we’ve been waiting for and now can hardly believe has come!! Saturday, November 19th, marks the opening of our Lilly Pulitzer boutique in Palm Beach’s legendary resort, The Breakers. I had the chance to speak with a breathless Jose Cuadra (still lots to do before the doors open tomorrow!), Visual Director here at Lilly, about his experience working on this store and how he felt about opening in The Breakers. He hesitated and then said “In one word, we are… Home.”
The build out of the 864 square foot boutique, situated in the exclusive Palm Courtyard, was a collaboration between Jose and Janie, Fashion Director, with the support of our amazingly talented print team. The goal in designing The Breakers store was to reflect the authentic Palm Beach lifestyle where the brand was born and bring in the fun, color, and irreverence that our Lilly Lovers have come to know & adore about us. Janie & Jose also really wanted to emphasize the playground that is Palm Beach – the sun, sand & surf. (Insert Jose gushing about the starfish dressing room they created with stardust sand that just “twinkles!”) Besides the abundance of shells and coral, there’s a map of Palm Beach, the story of Lilly Pulitzer and a timeline of the brand- all beautifully hand painted by the team. (while wearing Lilly & looking adorable, I might add!). The store also has bright punches of the gorgeous Lilly Pulitzer for Lee Jofa fabric that makes us all swoon every time we see it.
And while our Lilly boutique and The Breakers itself is amazingly chic & emanates a Resort lifestyle of people’s dreams, it’s also a warm, down-to-earth, and family-oriented location – and that just might be the most special thing about opening here. It feels like home to us because it feels like Lilly herself- cool in every way, unique & inspiring in everything she did and welcoming to each person that walked in her door. And when the doors open in this iconic, Lilly location tomorrow, “this hidden jewel is going to shine throughout the courtyard” and we can’t wait to welcome each and every one of you… home.

Lilly Pulitzer LOVES Bloomingdale’s and we couldn’t think of a better marriage of brands since we’ve joined forces many years ago. Our flagship Lilly store is located at Bloomingdale’s 59th street on Lexington Avenue between 59th and 60th. We love bringing color to New York and our new space on the 3rd floor always stands out – just as you would expect from Lilly!
One of the things that is so special about Lilly at Bloomingdale’s is the excellent customer service we offer. We have trained at Bloomingdale’s specialists and personal shoppers who together, can help you find the perfect ensemble for every occasion! We recently moved our floor space on the third floor and are now located on the left side from the escalator neighboring our friends Kate Spade and Rachel Roy.
We have a lot of exciting events taking place for the holiday season – just last week we partnered with the New York Junior League to celebrate Lilly Pulitzer’s birthday. We always have beautiful gifts with purchase that our customers love (like the ones from Lilly’s birthday last week!). Lilly loves to make her customers smile and will continue to delight her with new events all the time! (check back in the beginning of December for another one!)

Pink Narcissus, run by two Tallahassee natives, Laura Steen and Juli Downs, just opened this past May as an “official” Lilly Pulitzer Signature Store. Of course, as one of Tallahassee’s premier boutiques, Narcissus had carried Lilly for 15 years before finally deciding to open as a Signature Store. And the timing couldn’t have been better. My Lilly Story: Our original store, Narcissus, carried Lilly Pulitzer for 15 years which is where I fell in LOVE with everything Lilly! Now I get to share my love and knowledge of the resort chic lifestyle with my own customers at Pink Narcissus.
We love being located in Tallahassee. It’s absolutely the perfect blend of families and college kids making for fun days & party nights! And another reason to love Tallahassee?? They voted Pink Narcissus as the “Best of Tallahassee” for “Best New Business,” “Best Women’s Clothing Store” and “Best Kids Clothing Store”! We were very excited about that & know Tallahassee is excited about getting Lillyfied!

The Start
Our Naples gem of a store came to life in November 2001 – we had finally become bi-coastal. We are tucked in a beautiful spot- a street off of the famous Third avenue in historic Naples. The old world charm of this quaint section of town has now been lit with the pink and green flame. The C. Orrico Naples Signature Store was the first to carry the entire lifestyle line in all of Naples and the west coast of Florida. Being the pioneer store in that area we have grown to be quite an established destination.

Halloween is a special time of year for us because Leesburg’s Annual Halloween Parade is the longest running Halloween parade east of the Mississippi River – 54 years and counting. Who knew????? Costumed revelers, floats, horseback riders and marching bands strut their way right past our shop, passing out candy to the trick-or-treating crowds that line the street. It kicks off a great season of festivities for Persnickety Palm, with our own “Annual Turkey, Tinsel and Birthday Cake” celebration in honor of Lilly Pulitzer’s birthday, Thanksgiving, and an amazing Christmas season. And the Lilly jeep, with some of our favorite Minnies waving from the backseat, is always a huge hit in Leesburg’s annual Christmas parade. Don’t get us wrong, we L-O-V-E Spring and Summer, but the late-year holidays are a great opportunity for us to show why Resort Chic really is a year ’round way of life.
What else makes us unique? Maybe it’s our pink and green leopard print tissue paper. Or maybe the custom pink and green leopard print curtains. Why? Like Lilly we love animals, especially cats. (Psst – your four-legged friends are always welcome in our shop!) And is there anything more classically chic than leopard print (with a Lilly Pulitzer inspired twist, of course!)? Yes, we’re a little different than your typical Signature Store, from the historic building to the Harold Kraus paintings on the wall to the bamboo ladders showing off our Murfee scarves and vintage Lilly Pulitzer fabrics. But at Persnickety Palm we believe that being a little different is “Essentially Lilly.”
