Martha’s Vineyard Travel Guide

Lilly Pulitzer Martha's Vineyard

Explore the Towns: The Island is made up of a variety of unique towns, each with their own personality. We LOVE them all… just depends on your taste. Visit Chilmark, home to the towns of Menemsha & Aquinnah, for the most authentic experience full of stunning views & sunsets. Edgartown & Oak Bluffs are the most happening with lots of dining (only non-dry towns on the island) & activity options. Best advice- remember it’s an island… so when in doubt, just keep circling.

Beaches: Bask in the sun in one of beautiful, secluded beaches. If staying in Edgartown, South Beach is the most popular. Hidden gem: venture on a 20-minute bike ride to the south shore for Long Beach (Long Point Wildlife Refuge)… it’s well worth the views of the Atlantic Ocean and freshwater pond. Get the full beach scoop here.

Gay Head Clay Cliffs: The multi-colored clay cliffs at the western end of the island (Aquinnah) are a must see. The Gayhead Light, the first lighthouse on Martha’s Vineyard, and beautiful vistas make for THE perfect photo-op. Rainy day? Even better. The clay from the cliffs turn the water our favorite color- PINK.

Chilmark Chocolates: Stop by the famous chocolate shop to satisfy your sweet tooth. The tiny shop can only accommodate about 10 people at a time but is WELL worth the wait. Our favorite: the milk almond crunch.

Flying Horses Carousel: Head to Oak Bluffs and take a ride on the nation’s oldest platform carousel. Make sure to take a stroll around Oak Bluff’s adorable “gingerbread houses” that have carousels carved into the woodwork afterwards.

#BuyMeLilly: Visit our friends at In the Pink in Edgartown for your Lilly fix.

New York City Travel Guide

Do

The Met: Charles James Exhibit – Get to the Met before August 10! Really, get yourself there as often as possible but now you have a couture-driven deadline, our favorite kind to have. Bring your best fashion-loving friend and seek out the Charles James exhibit, which is a retrospective full of glamorous ball gowns through James’s life as a couturier. If those dresses could talk…

Lilly Pulitzer – Madison Avenue –  Buy. Me. Lilly. Explore our store (on Madison Ave., between 78th and 79th), which is full of the surprises and special touches you love in all our stores. No spoilers here – you must see for yourself! Ok. One hint – the best staircase in the city.

Alice’s Tea Cup – Tea time. There’s never a wrong time for tea, so pop over a couple blocks to Alice’s Tea Cup and enjoy a  cuppa while planning your next Manhattan adventure.

Bryant Park – Wander over to Bryant Park, which is four acres of green space backing the famous New York Public Library. Make sure to see the big stone lions out front, because it wouldn’t be a Lilly adventure without some wild animals. Psst – Bryant Park was also home to the New York Fashion Week tents for many years and is one of our favorite spots for ice skating when it’s winter (if it must be winter, may as well skate).

High Line Park – Originally built in the 1930s to keep trains above and away from street traffic, it has now been reclaimed as a beautiful urban park. Walk along and see views of both the city and the river.

Eataly – At night, sign up for a wide range of cooking classes at Eataly’s Fifth Avenue location to learn about summer pasta, Italian cocktails, or how to make the perfect risotto. (And then eat it.)

Nantucket Travel Guide

Lilly Pulitzer Nantucket Travel Guide

Bike the Island: Bike paths run throughout most of the 14 miles that span Nantucket. It’s the perfect way to see a lot of the island. If you weren’t able to bring your Lilly Cruiser with you, we recommend Young’s Bicycle Shop & Nantucket Bike Shop in the main part of town. Pedal in print!

Siasconset Bluff Walk: Stroll down our favorite walking path and take in the stunning mansions on one side and the ocean on the other… perfection. See the rose-covered cottages that ‘Sconset is known for and visit the adorable town & market. Make sure to stop at ‘Sconset café for lunch—delicious food.

The Beach: Nantucket has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Get the full scoop here. Our favorites are Miacomet & Nobadeer (aka the party beach), Brant Point to watch the incoming boats & Madaket Beach for the best sunsets on the island. Make sure to hang out with all of the surfers at Cisco Beach’s long sand bar too.

Cisco Brewery: The perfect after beach hangout spot. Enjoy live music & a Whale’s Tale Pale Ale or their killer blueberry mojito (FYI it’s home of Triple 8 Distillery too) at this local brewery/ large picnic venue. Major plus, they often have scheduled activities for kids to enjoy while parents sit back & relax.

Bartlett’s Farm: A little farther past the brewery, you’ll find this hidden gem. This isn’t your typical grocery store—think the Whole Foods of Nantucket but better. Almost all of their products are grown right on the farm. Plus, for unbelievably delicious, fresh fish to cook, visit East Coast Seafood (167) nearby on Hummock Pond Road.

Shop: The best shopping is in the heart of town on Main Street and the wharf. Make sure to visit our friends at In the Pink for your Lilly fix. #BuyMeLilly

Juice Guys: Thirsty from all of your shopping? Walk down Straight Wharf and visit the creators of Nantucket Nectar.

Chicken Box: THE bar in Nantucket. A mile away from the main part of town but everyone ends up here. Jam out to the live music and cheers to the night. “Lazy Monday” night here is a MUST. Pre-Chicken Box, get drinks at The Gazebo (literally a giant gazebo with a bar in the middle) which is located in between The Tavern and Straight Wharf in Harbor Square.

Print Worth Celebrating: Watch Out

Posted on June 5, 2014 in More Fun by | 1 comment

We love doing our research when it comes to prints — especially when it involves a beach trip. We (happily) did our due diligence to learn ALL of the hot spots in Watch Hill‚ Rhode Island. Although Watch Hill is famous for many things‚ we suggest meeting at the lighthouse for an afternoon stroll‚ cone’s at St. Claire’s annex (large‚ please) and (the most famous attraction!) let’s take a ride on the carousel.
