Summer Is Here!
Posted on June 21, 2009 in Miscellany by Lindsay
The official first day of Summer!! Happy happy to everyone. Maybe now the weather can get nice up here? If you haven’t put all shoes that require socks away by now, DO IT! Replace your daily skin cream with Hawaiian Tropic and let your hair air dry. Stir up the lemonade and grab a good book. Even if you have to work tomorrow at least you have today! (Throwing out some Cape Cod love in this pic)
Cheers!

Strawberry Fizzies
Posted on May 22, 2009 in Miscellany by Lindsay
Here’s a yummy recipe for a great cocktail. Remember no Memorial Day picnic should be without strawberries!!
Ingredients
450g strawberries, sliced and diced
1 tbs icing sugar
Crushed ice (optional, but refreshing)
2/3 cup (165ml) vodka, chilled
1 bottle sparkling wine, chilled
Method
Place the strawberries and icing sugar in a blender or food processor and blend or process until mixture forms smooth puree.
Pass the puree through a fine sieve into a bowl and discard the seeds in the sieve. Cover the puree with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator.
Half-fill 8 champagne flutes/ or other tall glass with the crushed ice, if using. Divide the chilled strawberry puree among the flutes, then top each with a splash of vodka. Top up with the sparkling wine.
Notes & tips
You can make the strawberry puree up to 2 days ahead

Lilly Pulitzer: Trend Setter

Looks like our 50th celebration car is a hot idea! Not only has our Jeep been flying off the lots, it looks like Barbie has taken a page from our book on this one. Last month in Milan, Mattel unvieled their 50th celebration Pink Barbie Fiat! Not exactly a beach mobile, seeing as there are crystals on the hubcaps and rims, but suitable for cruising around town in style
Happy Earth Day!
Posted on April 22, 2009 in Miscellany by Lindsay
In light of it being Earth Day we thought we’d share a conservation tid-bit I was recently made aware of. Did you know it takes over 50 GALLONS OF WATER to make 1 LATTE????? Stats show that over 50% of 18+ year olds in America drink coffee. And they average 2.6 cups A DAY! Sadly there is no such thing as locally grown coffee (unless you are from Hawaii) and the energy used to transport it from South America or out in The Pacific Ocean is immense. Not only that but water is used in almost every element of your morning Starbucks run. From the cups and lids to the sugar, milk and beans themselves- it’s amazing to see how something so small has such a big price tag.
“Pandamonium” in Rome
Posted on April 20, 2009 in Miscellany by Lindsay
On Saturday, the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) filled Rome’s Piazza del Popolo with hundreds of paper mache Pandas in hopes to raise awareness of this beautiful creature’s desperate state. There are only 1,600 pandas left in the wild! These little guys are moving on this week to take over a bridge in the Sicilian town of Syracuse where they hope to cause a stir during the meeting of the Ministers of the Environment from G8 countries. Next week they are expected to be auctioning them off on ebay, or if you’d rather directly sponsor one of the remaining 1,600 real bears, head over to the WWF website to make a donation.
$1,000 Mint Julep!
Posted on April 15, 2009 in Miscellany by Lindsay
Woodford Reserve, the official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby will be shaking and serving $1,000 Mint Julep Cocktails on May 2nd. It’s made with sugar cane grown on the French Island of Reunion and mint leaves grown in Turkey near the Euphrates River, even the ice is exclusive, made from water in the Norwegian Wilderness (no, I’m not making this stuff up). The cups are cast in sterling silver and plated in 24K Gold. In fact the cups are made by New England Sterling- the official Derby trophy maker. Here’s the catch…there are only 96 cups available (and if you’re not having it served in gold why drink it?) You must order in advance and pick up (along with the Julep) in person at Churchill Downs on Derby Day. In case you were wondering they also have 3 more extra special cups with 3 diamonds set in them. These 3 will be auctioned off and proceeds will benefit charity.
