1. Shere Wrap 2. Tootsie Sweater Wrap 3. Connell Sweater 4. Shere Sweater Coat

We admit it – we like cashmere. Can you blame us??  It’s warm, it’s cozy and in these styles- it’s adorable!   The Shere is a staple, wrapped or worn, and we’re absolutely loooving the new, oh-so-clever, Tootsie wrap! It’s a wrap without the fuss! (seriously- the Tootsie is genius in Cashmere)  And be sure to introduce your skinny jeans to the Connell – they’ll be cold weather BFFs!

Whichever sweater you choose, you’ll wow in warmth!

A Lilly Lover’s Trip to Paradise!

Aloha Lilly Lovers! In anticipation of our favorite summer months slowly winding down (I’m jealous of all you Floridians!), I decided to take an end of summer vacay to one of the most beautiful spots I have ventured thus far: Maui, the second largest island in Hawaii. What better way to escape the end of summer blues than to pack my Lilly and play in the sea, sand, sun?!

Now, I’m not really sure where to begin with this magical journey. The whole trip was a blur of beautiful beaches, the bluest ocean I’ve ever seen, and LOTS of Lilly clothes to accompany me on my journey. I’m going to give you a glimpse of my trip…where I went & what I wore! The first, and one of my most favorite, the Cassie slub Dress, came in most handy out of all my Lilly’s- perfect for wearing as a cover up or as an easy dress to dinner. The Cassie was perfect for almost every Hawaiian occasion.  Here’s a quick pic of me while driving the Road to Hana on my way to our lux hotel, the Ritz Carlton, Kapalua (!!!!!) How cute is the color on this Cassie? (I have the Warehouse Sale to thank for this sample purchase…we never offered yellow on our line!)

We love anything printed and are particularly fond of this collection pulled by our talented graphic artist. Have you dyed or decorated any yet? Make sure you send us your favorites! Wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with lots of Lilly. Spring is finally here!

This week we are so proud to host Molly Andrews in our Guest House. Molly is the creator of Chairloom, a local Main Line design service that specialises in the reinvention of antique furniture by reupholstering pieces with fun, fresh fabrics. We love her creative vision, her passion for reusing and reinventing and her childhood memories of Lilly clothing. She used to watch her Lilly clad grandmother rescue injured pelicans with her bare hands and walk them gently to the vet. Now that’s a woman to be admired! With Earth Day this Friday we thought her story was the perfect focus. A few weeks back, we gave Molly some of our left over Summer 2011 fabric, she provided a chair that she found while sifting through a thrift store and we headed to her upholsterer. It was amazing to watch the chair’s transformation. Upholstery is a true art and now one of our lucky readers will be the proud owner of the finished product. Entry details will follow soon but in the meantime check out our q&a to learn more about Molly Andrews and Chairloom.

Matchbook Strikes Our Fancy

Inclement weather strikes the Pink Palace again! The morning arrived with a hefty dose of snow and for tonight? A “snow-a-cane”. Clearly the local news has run out of nicknames for snowstorms. Perhaps it is due to the multiple reports they have had to cover. Global warming? What’s that? Although we live amongst palm trees and  coveted mood enhancing prints, we too must pull on our Wellies and brave the storm.

If you are lucky enough to be snowed in today, curl up with a good read. May we suggest the newly launched Matchbook Magazine? The highly anticipated online publication was released late last night. Do you remember our friend Jane Lilly Warren from Lox Papers? She graciously created one of her meticulous inspiration boards for Lilly a few months back and we all fell in love with her and her designs. She and her sidekick, Katie Armour of the neo-traditionalist, have paired up to create a lifestyle digital magazine coined as a “field guide to a charmed life”

As you know, we are big fans of entrepreneurs and encourage everyone’s creative ambitions. Well done girls! We are honored to be one of your inspirations.

Lilly Pulitzer NY Showroom Welcomes The Young Women’s Leadership School

The Lilly Pulitzer showroom welcomed a fantastic group of young women to explore a “day in the life of” hands on career session. From sales, to marketing, to merchandising and even interning, the girls got an inside look on how the world of fashion functions 21 stories above the busting “Fashion Avenue” in New York City. TYWLS ( The Young Women’s Leadership School) , is a all female, grades 6-12 public school located in East Harlem, that educates women on becoming the next emerging leaders in society through dynamic and hands on learning experiences. Career and college prep is an excellent program that the school provides to equip the girls with the necessary tools to start planning for their futures at an early age.

We kicked off the morning with the Lilly Story and watched the Retrospective and Summer 2011 collection videos so the girls were able to get an idea of the Lilly lifestyle. Heather Adams, director of sales and Joanna Lee, Merchandising director, gave the girls a lesson in sales and merchandising, and Molly Scudder and Sommer Haynes led a market style appointment in which they presented the Summer 2011 line as if the girls were “buyers” from major department stores. After a little round table discussion about fashion, careers and women’s roles in the workplace, we quickly learned we had a diverse group of ladies who wanted to be designers, graphic artists, doctors and even a chemical engineer! We exchanged tips about first jobs, college choices and even a little “academic soul searching” to help share how our experiences in the field led us to where are currently are.

The girls were then put to work! Each young lady was paired up with a LP girl and they had hands on experience to design in store signage, create an event for our Madison Avenue store, calculate sales trends and even assist in choosing items to place in an order. At the end of the day, the girls were able to share with the group what they had learned in their break out session, and let’s just say we had the next VP of Marketing and Sales amongst us! It was so refreshing to be amongst a group of ambitious, driven and hopeful young women who believe there is nothing they cannot do. It put warmth in our hearts on such a cold day, and we all embraced in the inner 15 year old girl that still is inside of us. We LOVED having the inspiring women of the TWYLS visit us, and we hope we have encouraged the girls to think the unimaginable, set goals and to paint the town pink and green!

Art Imitating Art

January 25th marks the arrival of our AMAZING Spring collection. When Resort launched in November we shared our year long inspiration of art appreciation. As we close the book on literature we are ready to turn to fine art. Impressionism, pop art and block printing were the source for most of our print team’s designs. Design Director Janie Schoenborn was an Art History major in college and always pictured herself working for an auction house or in a gallery. She  does know what she is talking about when it comes to art. Her Rollins days were a little hazy despite all her professor did to get her to focus on slides in a dark classroom. She was more interested in the pool and Florida sunshine! But look at her now…she produces Wearable Art! Thanks Dr. Lemon!

Janie loves cartoons. “I love the idea of being a cartoon girl and Paige Smith (print designer) is forced to draw me over and over.” Lichtenstein is clearly one of her top tops. But her favorite of all time is Madame X by Sargent. When Sargent unveiled this painting in Paris it was a HUGE scandal. Read up on the history of the woman in this painting and why she was infamous for many reasons.

Look for our own (scandal free) unveiling in two weeks!
