Party Styling for the [Lilly] Holidays

Posted on December 11, 2012 in Party by | 2 comments

The hurried holidays are full of big parties, small gatherings and everything in-between. We love each festive fete for the obvious purpose of mix & mingling with new & old friends alike, but we also adore discovering divine eats, delightful new cocktails and admiring the hostess’ personal style infused into every party detail.

Because we already threw our over-the-top holiday party, we wanted to put together a Lilly-inspired, intimate and elegant gathering for a few friends. Here’s a quick rundown on how we created this pretty punchy tabletop balanced with refined style and hints of whimsy for a perfectly imperfect Lilly lunch!

Inspiration: The Lei Print from Resort – Palm fronds complimented by bright pinks & oranges.

Table covering: The table was layered with a bright pink organza tablecloth and a Satin Sloane Scarf in Sunset Orange Reef Madness as a table runner. Oversized palm fronds were added to bring in some lush color and tropical feel.

Table settings: We used some vintage china & glasses, (use this as an excuse to pull out the “good stuff!”) printed & tipped with gold because…WE-LOVE-GOLD and some beautiful bone-handled cutlery for an eclectic but classic touch. Simple white linen napkins were accented with orange & pink ikat paper napkins and wrapped in our gold Starfish Cuff for a fun but sophisticated plate topper.

Floral & fruit arrangements: Our floral arrangement is made of tangerine roses, miniature cerise calla lilies, raspberry ranunculus, ginger and miniature pineapples. Also, tucked in the design you will find tiny key limes (an ode to Lilly’s juice stand) and tiny birds with lush magenta feathers. We added a bowl of clementines & key limes for a tropical twist plus we LOVE the taste & smell of a peeled cutie this time of year. A small bowl of heirloom grape tomatoes are great for guests to pick & pop while chatting & waiting for the main course.

Accents: Because Lilly girls adore surprises and fall in love with details, we added some beautiful porcelain Herand figurines, punctuated each place setting with a unique set of salt & pepper shakers from around the world and dangled a few of our Washed Up necklaces from our greenery adorned chandelier.

Furry Friend: Our Ardmore Store Manager’s dog, Lola, was very interested in being a part of our little lunch so we invited her to stay but asked that she dress accordingly. She obliged so we pulled her up a chair!

We love the way this inviting tabletop warms up the room with its splashy colors, brings in a tropical feel with the palm fronds, starfish & citrus fruits and sets an elegant tone with china and gold & bone accents. In true Lilly form, we had to add some unexpected guests with critters stacked atop oversized pink marshmallows and salt & pepper shaker critters playfully accompanying each plate.

How are you setting your table this holiday?  Fancy Schmancy or Casual Cool? We’d love for you to share your pictures with us on Facebook & tag us on Pinterest or Instagram with #LillyHoliday.  Any way you choose, we hope Lilly inspires your holidays to be a bit more colorful and the next time you set a festive table, save a seat for us!
