Lilly Pulitzer was back and better than ever at the Devon Horse Show last week! We’re almost positive our friends in Devon posted “Lilly or Louder” on the attire for the races…or so you would have thought! Mom’s, grandmoms and children of all ages turned out for the oldest horse show in the country wearing some of their favorite Lilly’s…and we were there to see it!
Last Wednesday, Lilly Pulitzer sponsored a hat contest, followed by a sit down ladies luncheon for over 200 guests. We had beautiful, warm weather (and by warm we mean 90 degrees warm) but even the heat didn’t stop some of the Main Line’s loyal Lilly fans from coming out and dressing to the nines in their favorite looks from our Spring and Summer 2011 collection. The day began at 11:30 where guests and hat design contestants were encouraged to make the most Lillyesque inspired Derby hats and parade in front of a panel of judges. Members from Lilly corporate chose a first, second, and third place winner, awarding a tote filled with goodies to the winning hat. (what a tough decision that was!) These contestants weren’t joking around…dressed head to toe in Lilly footwear, dresses, jewelry…and then creating a Lilly inspired hat…they had the total package!
And our fun didn’t end there. Following the hat contest, we hosted a very Lilly lunch in the gazebo. The set up was beautiful (if we do say so ourselves)…Lilly printed tablecloths adorned each table, printed Lilly Chinese lanterns hung from the ceiling, along with Lifeguard press reusable shoppers for the first 100 ladies that arrived to the luncheon! Guests enjoyed a catered lunch, courtesy of our friends at the Devon Horse show, and settled in after their meals for an informal fashion show of our Summer 2011 collection. Janie was on site to MC the show and speak to some of the fun print stories behind our summer clothes. The hot hot heat didn’t stop our Lilly models (both Minnies and Moms!) from strutting their stuff down the runway and throughout the grounds at the horse show. Luncheon guests were able to chat with the models about each of the looks, get a feel for the clothes, and write down some of their favorite styles on a Run of Show list, detailing each look. We’ll admit, we were glad when it was over so that we could get back inside near the AC!
A big thank you goes out to our King Of Prussia and Ardmore store staff and the retail team for all of their help, we couldn’t have done it without you!
