First Lady Michelle Obama was feted as the guest of honor at the annual Congressional Club luncheon held last Wednesday at the Washington Hilton, hosted by spouses of Members of Congress. At the bi-partisan luncheon, Mrs. Obama spoke to the guests about her Joining Forces campaign, and danced to the tunes of Latin pop icon Gloria Estefan.
More than 2,000 guests attended the three-hour Florida-themed affair, including spouses of Cabinet members, the US Supreme Court and the leadership of the Senate and House. During her remarks, Mrs. Obama honored members of the armed forces and their families. The event was chaired by Mrs. Pat Mica, wife of Rep. John Mica of Florida. Each year, the event theme is inspired by the state where the event chair lives. How fitting that Mrs. Mica would think of Lilly Pulitzer to carry the Floridian themed luncheon! (We think it was a fabulous idea!)
Lee Jofa, our soon-to-launch fabric partner, provided the table linens so guests could dine at Lilly Pulitzer tables. Every guest, including The First Lady, received a Lilly Pulitzer printed gift bag. Lilly Pulitzer also provided the white dresses seen on the lovely attendants! Guests had a fabulous time and the beach theme had everyone wishing summer would come just a little faster. We were honored to have been a part of the event and want to thank Mrs. Mica for including Lilly!
