Since I know you’re all thirsting for some more juice on the Parsons event, Joanna- ”The Jubilee Extraodinaire” sent this to share…
“Anyone who’s anyone was out on the town last night in celebration of Lilly Pulitzer’s 50th Anniversary Jubilee! A downtown meets uptown crowd packed the Sheila Johnson Design Center at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City. Fashion press, fashion trade and fashion fans were spilling onto the sidewalk clamoring to see the anniversary retrospective, which was unveiled at the event. The chaotic crowds at the front door would have made even Gossip Girl proud!
In true Lilly fashion, the room glowed in bright pink light, highlighting a vintage collection from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Lifelong Lilly supporters like Wendy Vanderbilt and Holly Dunlap mixed and mingled with downtown types like Justin Tranter, front man of rock band Semi Precious Weapons. In similar contrast, comfort foods like mini pigs in a blanket and grilled cheese, all Lilly favorites, were passed on sliver platters. Guests sipped PINK! champagne by Yellowglen Vineyards and pink “Lillies” provided by Hendrick’s Gin. as the Alex Donner Orchestra provided show stopping tunes on a limited edition Lilly Pulitzer piano from Steinway & Sons (would you expect anything less?!).
As Lilly herself likes to say, “every hour is happy hour”… Amongst a happy crowd and happy clothes, that was certainly the mood last night.”
